This artwork is inspired by ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ by the Japanese artist Hokusai Katsushika.
‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ was created around 1831 as part of a series of woodblock prints called ‘Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji’.
The composition is made of strips of paper clay, fixed on canvas, finished by matt, white paint. The strips measure up to 30 centimeters in length and 10 centimeters in height.
The work is finished with a wooden ton-sur-ton frame and equipped with hanging hardware (steel wire).
